A popular concern of air disc fleets is premature rotor wear due to corrosion. North America has no shortage of anti-icing corrosives that shorten rotor life. Uncoated rotors will begin corroding the day they are installed. And this corrosion causes problems in two vital areas:
Overheating: Flaking rust will inevitably clog the rotor vents and keep the rotor from cooling. This leads to overheating that will cause premature wear.
ABS Failure: Flaking and chipping of the ABS teeth on the rotor will result in an ABS fault. This means fleets will replace the rotor long before it has reached its minimum thickness.
To extend rotor life and prevent corrosion, A-Line rotors are coated with GeoMet® 360 protection. This blend of zinc and aluminum oxides interlace and bind to the metal surface so that they are four times more corrosion resistant than zinc-only coatings.
A-Line’s GeoMet coating inhibits corrosion for up to two years, so you get the full life from your rotor.
Applied in layers of eight to 10 microns thick, the coating resists more than 30 natural and synthetic corrosives.
